I’m 12 and I would like to start wearing some light make up (foundation, eyeliner, mascara, and maybe a little natural color blush). But I don’t know how to ask her! So how do you think I should ask?
Thanks!
So maybe blush is a little much.

hm just say you feel like you are old enough now to be wearing makeup and if she refuses just accept it. i was not allowed to wear makeup until i was 15 or 16 and im very thankful because it damages skin and my skin is way better than all the other girls now =]
but if you really want to just tell her how you feel.

just tell her that you would like to start wearing make up!

Well that’s not exactly light makup. I don’t think that as a twelve year old you really need that much anyway. So maybe just settle for tinted moisterizer and mascara.

But the way you could ask her, is first ask if you could wear all that makeup you mentioned up there, and then slowly negotiate it down to tinted moisterizer and mascara, and she will most likely say yes.

Just start off by asking her whether you could use lip gloss ONLY for a start…..I think that she would say yes as it is the most basic make-up accessory……after you have got permission to wear lip gloss, slowly start convincing her by saying that most of your friends in school are wearing make-up and ask permission to use eye-liner….followed by mascara……..but I don’t think that your mom will let you use blush till you are 13 as if you start using make-up such as blush and eye shadows, you will have higher chances of getting oily skin and pimples at a very young age itself….

Hope this helps :-)

I think foundation, mascara, eyeliner and blush is all too much for a twelve year old.
When I was twelve, I wore eyeliner and mascara.

Its easier to start small and then jump into more than asking for too much at one time.

Do you have a ffavorite female celebrity? If you happen to see her on television, just say Oh, I love her eye makeup. Do you think I could try that, Mom?

Just be patient.

mommy, i really feel that i am old enough, and responcible enough to wear a teensy bit of makeup. Maybe i could just wear a little eyeshadow or something. I am beautiful just the way i am, but i just want to ebhance my beauty with a bit of makeup. hope you understand.

*by the way, your 12!!! you dont need blush, or foundation!!!!!!!!!*

I personally think your too young.
But just say Hey mom, can I start wearing a little makeup every now and then?
Just ask. It will be a yes or no. If it’s no, steal her makeup. (:

Well theres no certain way to ask, lol. Just ask her nicely. Most 11 and 12 year olds I know wear makeup, and I think Its okay to wear makeup when your about 12,so she should let you. I didn’t start wearing makeup untill about 15, but that was just because I was too lazy to put it on earlier, lol. If other girls at your school wear makeup tell her that.

I wouldn’t even try to wear make-up at 12 yrs. old. Make-up that isn’t natural causes wrinkles (when your older), clogs your pores, and causes pimples. You shouldn’t wear it until you NEED it. But if you really want to wear it try natural brands that are non-comedogenic (and natural make-up remover). And foundation is not light make-up. I would start with mascara, lip-gloss, and neautral blush.

When people get used to someone who always wears make-up, the one day they don’t, everyone goes, Oh! Uh…

But to someone who doesn’t wear it daily, the one day they DO, everyone gushes and goes Ohmigod you look AMAZING, you should totally wear make-up more often! Not that you weren’t already gorgeous, but now you’re DROP DEAD GORGEOUS! That’s so not fair, me wearing make-up is like your face normally, and now I can’t compare!

I doubt it would have the same effect if they did wear it more often ;)

I’m guessing you’re in middle school, and that’s part of the transition age/stage, but when you get older you’ll realize yourself and you’re girlfriends wearing less makeup-that’s one of the differences between high school and college girls. You’ll see why. Don’t let those movies (played by adults past school age), and us high school girls fool ya! (I’ll admit, we act more superior around y’all. Don’t judge, you do it too!) The girls you remember and admire aren’t the ones who wear the most make-up.

I agree with one of the ladies above me- You WON’T regret holding out a little longer. What you do know will affect your future (look past your 20s) Be the only girl with the best skin in school ;) I started wearing make-up regularly in my mid-teens. My mom (yes, and eventually yours might too) took me to a make-up counter where she bought my make-up and had a staff member give me a makeover and teach me. Lots of people know zilch about make-up and do it wrong so I suggest this.

Here’s a tip: I guarantee that NO ONE will remember how you looked like at 12 years old in the NEAR future-we’re all so caught up with our own appearances now, so don’t worry about it now. It’s okay to look your age now, it’ll change in 365 days! And there’s no going back.

For now, just maintain yourself and look kempt: brush your teeth, wash your face every day, shower, moisturize, maybe a little moisturizing mascara, pluck brows, etc. It’s best to find your best face that you can put forward without make-up.
