Red wines are made from grapes with red skins. The pulp can be red or white – it’s the skins that give the color!
White wines are made from grapes with white pulp. Skins are not included.
Blush wines are usually white wines, sweetened with color added!

To understand the different characteristics of wine, you must learn the characteristics of the grapes used.
For example Cabernet, Zinfendal, Pinot Noir and Merlot are all red, but each has its own characteristics. Each has it’s own aroma and taste, from peppery, berrylike or fruity.
It’s the same for the whites. Dry whites like chardonnay may be a bit buttier or creamier than a dry Riesling or Pinot Gris. White grapes tend to be sweeter than reds, but not always. Rieslings alone are harvested early to produce a dry wine and again after the normal harvest to produce a much sweeter variety.
Blush wines tend to always be sweet. I really don’t drink the sweet wines and those I’ve tried, I always get a hint of strawberry or sweet cherry.

Color for one – then flavors – white wines are fruity dry or crisp – some red wines are fruity, woodsy or robust – they are all different – I like all different wines depending on my mood, what I’ll be eating etc….
